APS & Associates seeks an organized and enthusiastic problem solver to join our team as a Public Affairs Coordinator. The Coordinator is instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of the APS & Associates firm, supporting the President, Vice President, and the firm in multiple capacities. The ideal candidate is able to juggle competing priorities, act quickly on immediate requests, manage ever-changing calendars and both foresee and resolve issues proactively, all while keeping a level head. Reporting to the Vice President, the Coordinator will coordinate with other staff and across all clients – an exciting opportunity to learn about all aspects of public affairs work.

The Public Affairs Coordinator will assist with:

  • Drafting communications materials (e.g. memos, press releases, scripts, talking points)
  • Managing calendars internally and for clients
  • Conducting weekly political, event, and legislative research
  • Preparing event, legislative, and political briefs or memos for clients
  • Managing business and administrative tasks (e.g. database management)
  • Assisting ongoing political campaigns and strategic goals
  • Performs miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned

Knowledge & Skills:

  • 1 - 2 years experience in communications work
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of equity, inclusion and justice
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

APS & Associates is seeking a Senior Associate to manage the firm’s research and policy department. The Senior Associate will develop and implement strategies to strengthen the company’s research and earned media services across a range of political, corporate, government, and other clients. Given the dynamic, fast-paced environment of public affairs, this position may include additional responsibilities not included below.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct organization’s research, policy, and writing materials
  • Create comprehensive research & writing products for clients including briefs/ memos, remarks, press releases
  • Serve as final editor on all writing, research, and earned media products to clients
  • Supervise the department and provide guidance and feedback to other research & design needs
  • Monitor legislative bodies and submit summaries for applicable client reports
  • Conduct general research to keep abreast of trends and competitor’s movements
  • Assist in earned, paid, and social media relationships and content creation
  • General management of multiple client projects, relationships and daily needs
  • Support firm’s President and Vice President in business development, client support, and other projects

Requirements: An experienced professional with a passion for the job, a flexible team player, and able to employ unique research/writings. Qualifications will also include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in public policy, economics, political science, journalism, or relevant field required; Master’s or Advanced Degree preferred; 3-4 years of relevant experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of governance and institutional processes, as well as applicable legislative initiatives
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Proven experience as research director/associate
  • Excellent leadership and organizing skills
  • Analytical and creative thinking
  • Thorough knowledge of web analytics (e.g. Google Analytics, WebTrends etc.) and Google Adword
  • Professional chartered researcher and quantitative/qualitative systems experience (e.g., SPSS, GIS) preferred
